The Flores Market Story
Bert Flores started Flores Market and butchery in the Watts area of Los Angeles in the mid 50’s. He developed such a strong relationship with all people and cultures within the local community, a group put a “black owned business” sign to protect his business during the Watts riots of 1963 and was spared. His business continued to serve the community until his retirement. Today, we are bringing back The Flores Market back with high-quality meat, BBQ, Mexican food, and condiments (fresh salsas, hot sauces and more). We will also be providing affordable gourmet meals from Chef Marcus Flores, his grandson. The exact date is unknown so Chef Marcus decides to honor his late father by using the year he was born as a reminder of how important family is and how much food can bring everyone together.
